NFU Mutual launches new insurance for tenants

The NFU and NFU Mutual are launching a new insurance policy to cover the cost of rent arbitration and the determination of disputes by the Agricultural Land Tribunal.

The cover has been developed in response to complaints from union members that the threat of the cost of a rent review has in the past put farmers off seeking one.

Peter Crozier, national spokesman for tenants, said: “This new policy will mean that tenants will not be deterred from seeking a fair rent or resolving other tenancy issues by the cost of going to a tribunal. This cover is just what members have been asking for.”

The policy will be available from 1 March and will cost ÂŁ150. A policy offering tenants cover for arbitration and agricultural land hearings is also available from the Tenant Farmers Association.
