NFYFC break-up plan rejected

REPRESENTATIVES OF the 12 Wales Young Farmers‘ Club county regions have voted to retain links with clubs in England.

Moves to dismantle the National Federation of Young Farmers‘ Clubs of England and Wales foundered at a meeting of the Wales YFC council.

The meeting followed months of detailed discussions with members at club, county and Wales levels.

Some Welsh YFC members had argued in favour of a break up because it would serve club members better, they believed.

They said that existing devolution, and the near certainty of the transfer of more powers to Cardiff, meant that that the movement needed a distinctive Welsh voice in the same way as it had in Scotland.

But the decision was rejected and Wales chairman Simon Evans, said that officers of Wales YFC would now proceed in the most productive way and continue to develop and work with NFYFC.
