Noble Foods proposes closure of egg packing site

Noble Foods has announced proposals to stop production at its Holsworthy packing centre that grades and packs eggs for supermarket chains.
According to Noble Foods, if plans were to be implemented, the closure would take place at the end of February.
Declining local egg sales and the existing surplus packing capacity across the group had instigated the closure, said Noble Foods.
If implemented, the changes would result in around 80 redundancies at the site.
“We express our deep regret over the situation and emphasise that the proposals are in no way a reflection of the commitment and quality of staff at Holsworthy,” said Noble Foods.
The company also confirmed that consultations had started with the staff and representatives to consider the proposals.
Under the proposals, drivers based at Holsworthy would be retained to provide service to local suppliers.
