Deadline looms for £13m Slurry Infrastructure grant scheme

An important deadline is approaching for farmers considering applications for the £13m Slurry Infrastructure grant, industry leaders have warned.

Online eligibility checks via Defra’s website must be carried out by 31 January.

The National Pig Association urged its members to visit the online checker on Defra’s Slurry Infrastructure grant webpage as soon as possible.

It said anyone considering the funding option could submit details and quickly assess whether their businesses were eligible and how much support was available.

The grant offering is competitive, and once the online checker closes on 31 January, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will assess how many projects can be funded.

If the scheme is oversubscribed, the RPA will identify which applications have a greater environmental benefit. Those invited to make a full application will then need to submit details about their project.

Following the check, producers can go on to make a full application.

How much is available and what can it be used for?

A total funding pot of £13m is up for grabs, with individual grants of between £25,000 and £250,000 on offer.

Grants can go towards the cost of slurry stores, covers, pumps, agitators and safety equipment.

Funding can be used to build, expand or replace existing slurry storage for up to six months’ storage capacity.
