£200 payment coming for off-gas-grid households

Households with no mains gas connection will receive £200 from the Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) scheme.

The vast majority will receive payment automatically via their electricity supplier with no need to take any action.

However, in some cases – for example, a farmhouse taking electricity through the farm’s business contract – payment is not automatic, so it must be claimed it through a government website or helpline.

Bank details are needed for the process, so it is important to make sure the correct government website is being used.

Applications are open from 27 February and can be made online or through the helpline on 0808 175 3287.

Similarly, households with no direct consumer electricity contract, which have not yet received the £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme discount, can make a claim through the same routes.
