A Scottish government grant of £7,500 is available for homeowners to install heat pumps.

The funding can cover up to 75% of the total cost of installation.

An extra £1,500 is available for households in rural areas, topping the grant up to £9,000.

This is part of the Home Energy Scotland Scheme, designed to make it more affordable for households to make energy efficiency improvements.

Total funding of £42m has been provided for the 2022-23 programme year.

Patrick Harvie, Scottish minister for zero-carbon buildings, said: “Our heat in buildings strategy sets out ambitious targets to transform how we heat and insulate buildings, and we have committed £1.8bn over this parliament to support its delivery.

“This includes doubling our funding for the Home Energy Scotland scheme this year.”

Harry Mayers, head of Home Energy Scotland, said the £1,500 rural uplift will provide extra financial support for those who live in rural and island communities and often face increased costs for home improvements.
