Prime arable choice widens with more farms for sale

A large offering of commercial arable farms and land is about to come to the market, topped by West Fen Farm, March, Cambridgeshire, with 472 acres of Grade 1 silt.

The farm has a profitable beef enterprise and is available as a whole for in excess of £6m or in two lots.

About 456 acres of the land can grow cereals and vegetables, supported by about 1,900t of grain storage and drying facilities and a 1.5m gallon abstraction licence.

Suiting the commercial land market, the only accommodation is a three-bedroom bungalow with a large annexe, while income diversity comes from cattle housing for 2,000 head.

In Northamptonshire, New Lodge Farm at Walgrave offers almost 407 acres of productive commercial arable land and is the largest block to come to the market in the county this year. This includes a farmstead with planning potential and is for sale as a company.

With a three-bedroom farmhouse let under an assured shorthold tenancy, the Grade 3 land is in one block with modern farm buildings and a traditional brick range. Selling agent Bidwells is looking for offers of more than £4.75m.

Retirement brings 361 acres of light land to the market with irrigation at Beachamwell, Norfolk. The Grade 3 land offers soils suitable for cereals, sugar beet, carrots and potatoes.
