A much larger entry of 2,272 sheep met with slightly slower trade on Monday (19 November), in line with the national trend.
Store lambs sold to a top of £59 a head, with others at £50-£57. Although there were very few cull ewes forward, as expected for the time of year, the top price was £19 down on last week at £60, said Evans Bros auctioneer, Aled Thomas.
Fat lamb trade averaged £1.39/kg, with a top price of £72.61 a head. Light lambs averaged 136p/kg – 9p less than last week, and sold to a top of 151p/kg. However, medium lambs were 6p dearer on the week at 144p/kg and reached a peak of 157p/kg. Heavy lambs eased slightly, to average 146p/kg, and topped at 154p.
