Monday’s (21 May) sale commanded another good entry of 1,093 sheep, but prices were slightly shy of recent weeks, reflecting the national drop in lamb values, said auctioneer Aled Thomas from Evans Bros.


New season lambs sold to a top of 205p/kg, and averaged 199p/kg overall. Lightweights peaked at 199p/kg and averaged 195p/kg, with medium weights settling at 197p/kg and sharing the top price with heavy lambs, which averaged 200p/kg. Hoggets from R Evans, Pensarn Fawr, sold to £67.50 a head, and averaged £58.50. In the cull section, ewes peaked at £98.50 for J Jones, Penrheol, with rams from Davies, Penlonesgair, twice selling to £109 apiece.


Ewes with lamb couples sold to £180 for G T Ebenezer, Bronaeron.
