Monday’s (7 October) sale saw 152 weaned calves and store cattle, 43 breeding cattle and 42 over-30-month-old cattle go under the hammer.
Bullocks averaged 246.4p/kg and sold to 297.1p for a 170kg Saler cross, while a 640kg Shorthorn cross topped at ÂŁ1,200 gross. Heifers averaged 233.0p/kg and peaked at 315.8p for a 190kg Charolais cross, with a 400kg Simmental and a 415kg Limousin cross both grossing ÂŁ810 apiece.
In-calf heifers reached ÂŁ1,400 for a Luing cross, while a Simmental cross topped the in-calf cow category at ÂŁ1,300. Cows with calves at foot sold to ÂŁ1,080 twice. In the over-thirty month section, a 690kg Belted Galloway cross cow took the top price of 145.7p/kg, with an 880kg Charolais cross grossing ÂŁ1,125.
