A fine selection of more than 2,000 lambs and 650 cull ewes and rams were forward at Tuesday’s (3 July) primestock sale. With more lambs coming on-stream, trade was steady and spring lambs topped at 218p/kg or £93 a head. Lambs in the 32.1-39kg bracket met the best trade at a top of 217.9p/kg and an average of 180.5p/kg. Texel cull ewes went to £110 a head, averaging £53.13, with Lleyns reaching £80 a head.

Prime cattle saw a tremendous trade, with a Limousin heifer topping at 236.5p/kg. All heifers levelled at 216.3p/kg, with steers reaching 226.5p/kg and averaging 216.2p/kg. Over-30-month cattle averaged 130.6p/kg, with a Blonde cross cow reaching the top price of 155.5p/kg.
