Dingwall and Highland Marts’ show and sale saw 159 rams go under the hammer on Monday (1 October). A Cheviot from Stornoway topped at ÂŁ360, with Suffolks selling to ÂŁ220, Texels to ÂŁ350, Blackfaces to ÂŁ340 and Zwartbles to ÂŁ200.
A 320kg Charolais heifer claimed the champion prize at Tuesday’s cattle show and sale, going on to sell for 218.8p/kg. Weaned heifers averaged 164.7p/kg, with weaned bullocks settling at 211.5p/kg and reaching a top of 262.6p/kg. The reserve champion, a 349kg Limousin cross, grossed ÂŁ770. Store bullocks averaged 175.2p/kg, and sold to 219.2p/kg for a 406kg Limousin cross, while store heifers levelled at 151p/kg, and reached a peak of 169.3p/kg for a 437kg Shorthorn cross.
