Sausage deal for Spar stores

THE WELSH Sausage Company has agreed a deal to sell its produce in Spar stores across the UK.

The Welshpool-based manufacturer is to supply 20,000 sausages a week for Capper and Co, which supplies the retailer‘s convenience stores in Wales and the rest of the UK.

The firm is to hire an extra four staff to meet demand, and has been helped by a £260,000 processing and marketing grant from the Welsh Development Agency.

This will fund a new factory and specialist machinery.

Butcher John Langford, who formed the company with Christine Gethin in 2003, said success was due to good quality ingredients and innovative recipes.

“We source Welsh products as far as possible and we‘re always looking for new ideas.”
