Texel celebrations boost charity

Farmers and auctioneers in south-west Scotland helped raise 8500 for Marie Curie Cancer Care as part of the Texel Sheep Society’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Society levies, the auctioneers’ commission from a recent sale of Texel gimmers at Crieff and proceeds from a Border Fine Arts auction all helped boost the total raised.

Marie Curie co-ordinator Isabell Montgomerie is pictured receiving the cheque from society president Keith Campbell (centre) and Lawrie & Symington auctioneer Brian Ross.

The presentation was made at the recent Texel society members’ conference at Penrith, Cumbria.
