Time running out to complete poultry survey

Poultry farmers have just two weeks left to complete and return a joint Poultry World and NFU questionnaire aimed at lifting the lid on the pressures faced by the poultry sector.
The questionnaire is available on FWi and NFU Online for those in the poultry industry to download, complete and fax back to the NFU.
Maria said: “We know that the meat and egg sectors are under heavy pressure as the retailers enter yet another price war, this has come against increasing feed costs which are likely to creep up yet again.
“Although some businesses have seen an ease to rising energy costs, what about the suggested rises to water?”
The survey contains 15 questions gathering information on issues such as profits, as well as finding out how farmers feel the industry is going.
She added: “There is pressure across all livestock sectors, so we need to demonstrate to policy formers, DEFRA and the retailers how farmers feel about their future as well as the impacts to their business. We will, of course, remind them about the fact that British produce is gaining popularity with the consumer for a range of very valid reasons – traceability, safety, hygiene, health and welfare standards to name just five.”
The brief questionnaire will only take five minutes to complete and all responses will be treated in the strictest confidence. Simply print off the form and send complete forms to Poultry Questionnaire, NFU, Food and Farming Department, Agriculture House, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2TZ or fax to 024 7685 8501.
Deadline for completed responses is 15 September 2007.
