Top price for in-lamb ewes
A SALE OF in-lamb ewes for the Blackface Sheep Breeders Association at Lanark saw only one entry unsold on a day when 34 lots averaged 651 and prices reached 2000gns.
The top call came for a shearling from N L McCall Smith, Crieff. This ARR/ARQ female was carrying twins and was bought by Mr Menzies of Holehouse, Largs.
The Connachan flock’s influence earned A J Kennedy and Son, Mitchellhill, a 1000gns deal for a gimmer sired by an ÂŁ8000 Connachan tup. Ewes sold to 1900gns for an entry from Ewan MacMillan, Fintry and bought by Michael Ketch, Co Waterford, Eire.
