Robert Wiseman Dairies has confirmed that it is to hold the price it pays for milk from 1st August.
The move sees the price paid for a standard litre remain at 20.11p/litre.
Director of procurement Pete Nicholson said: “When we wrote to producers in June, we pledged that we were prepared to hold back in the short term from announcing any further reductions in the hope that recent milk price cuts would be reversed.
“Not only has there been no reversing of cuts, one of our competitors has recently announced a further price reduction.
“Our price remains well above that of our main competitors and the gap between our prices has again grown, which makes it difficult for us to sustain in the long term this differential in such a competitive marketplace.
“However, despite these market pressures we have decided to hold our milk price for August 2005, and hope that this action will help bring some short term stability”.
