Yorkshire Wolds offering will draw interest

Wolds farm sales are few and far between so the launch of Linton Wold Farm, near Malton in North Yorkshire will attract great interest.

The 514-acre ring fenced holding lies east of Malton and has a large flexible range of modern and traditional farm buildings. These include 2,200t of grain storage, cattle and other livestock housing and handling facilities as well as general purpose buildings.

More than 400 acres of the Grades 2 and 3 soil is in arable cropping including potatoes and in temporary grass, with the remaining land in grass.

“This is a classic wolds arable farm,” said Savills’ Andrew Black. While the current emphasis is on cattle and sheep production, the whole of the farm has been ploughed in the past.

The vendor plans to relocate north of the border to concentrate on developing his top-end pedigree Aberdeen Angus herd. Linton Wold Farm has a five-bedroom traditional farmhouse and carries a guide price of £4.5m. (Savills 01904 617 800)

Savills is also selling a versatile block of productive land near Swineshead, Boston, Lincolnshire.

Drayton House Farm is around 244 acres of predominantly Grade 1 silt land with a small amount of Grade 2 land, along with an agricultural building and a three-bedroom semi-detached cottage let on a secure tenancy.

The holding is sold subject to a Farm Business Tenancy, which runs until September 2014.

“We see this as an ideal opportunity for somebody to secure the long-term farming of a block of land in a highly sought after area while benefiting from rental income in the immediate term,” said Stephen Hall of Savills, Lincoln.

“Certainly the national and international interest in quality land like this is still high, which is reflected in strong bidding for similar style properties within the last 12 months.”
