Lamma 2015: McCormick X7 gets its first CVT box

The first McCormick tractor with a CVT transmission will take centre stage at the Lamma exhibit of distributor AgriArgo (Stand R71).

The McCormick X7 VT Drive builds on the engine, transmission, hydraulics and cab combination of the 143-212hp McCormick X7 Pro Drive tractors introduced last year with their 24×24 (or 40×40 creep) semi-powershift transmission.

The VT Drive version has a ZF continuously variable transmission that combines hydraulic and mechanical drive in variable proportions to provide precise speed adjustment and control.

McCormick operating software can prioritise optimum use of power and torque for outright performance, exploit engine power characteristics to minimise engine speed for maximum fuel economy, or provide set engine and pto speeds with any variation in load compensated by changing forward speed.

Five models will be available – a trio of four-cylinder tractors with peak outputs of 143hp to 160hp for draft work, and up to 175hp with pto/transport boost, and a pair of six-cylinder tractors with 175hp and 188hp top outputs.

The new Data Screen Manager being introduced for all McCormick X7 Series tractors is a large terminal providing enhanced set-up features for tractor functions, touch-screen control of Isobus-equipped implements, and displays for an integrated auto steering system.
