Royal Highland Show: Northumberland livestock farmer wins Keenan mixer wagon

A Northumberland beef and sheep producer has scooped the Farmers Weekly/Keenan competition to win a mixer wagon.

David Walton and his wife Victoria from Hexham were presented with the ECO 54 mixer wagon with PACE feed and input monitoring controls at The Royal Highland Show, Ingilston.

Mr Walton said it was a “surprise” when he received the phone call to say he had won, as it was his wife who entered on behalf of him. He said: “I feel very happy to have won, especially after last summer and the spring we have just had.”

Mr Walton farms 250 Limousin x British Blue suckler cows along with 1,400 breeding sheep. He hopes the Keenan mixer wagon will help boost feed conversions and daily liveweight gains. “Hopefully it will make life easier and the end product cheaper to produce,” he said.
