Friday (1 June) is the 17th annual World Milk Day, which encourages dairy consumers and producers to celebrate all things milk.

Farmers Weekly took a look at some of the best (and strangest) tweets backing World Milk Day from around the globe.

The DairyMan (@dairymanNZ) gets the morning started by sinking a fresh pint of the white stuff before his morning milking.

England rugby star, Joe Marler (@joemarler) credits his his remarkable three-and-a half-week recovery  from a broken leg back in 2017  to drinking two pints of whole milk a day. Mr Marler said at the time: “I drank two pints of milk a day. It’s something I’ll keep doing because it’s really tasty.

“I always thought green top was good for you because it’s reduced fat, but they gave me licence to have blue top and the odd day I’d have gold top — the one with 1,000 calories.

“Maybe I won’t carry on with that, but blue top, it’s been really good for me.”

Worth a retweet. Dairy is an integral part of the diets of millions around the world.

Here, Cowbell (@cowbellghana) are offering to send one sachet of nutritious powdered milk to Ghana to fight malnutrition for ever retweet they receive.

Over to women’s hockey, Olympic gold medallist Samantha Quek (@samanthaquek) tells budding sports stars that milk contains the essential nutrients for post-exercise recovery.
