I am a mature student and have been out of education for 15 years. So it was especially important to me to find the right university.
Aberystwyth is ideally situated as a location to study the rural science, as it has some of the world’s most dramatic geology which creates the most beautiful rural landscapes in the UK.
For a small friendly rural location there is a fantastic social scene and night life with the town boasting over 50 bars. However, for me it was speaking to other students, looking on the National Student Survey as much as choosing the right course. Having friends that had studied with IBERS (Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences) enabled me to peek behind prospectus.
IBERS employs the largest collection of land based scientist in the UK with continuing investment, we have new building and even some new staff to add to the wealth of teaching staff. The staff are friendly and encouraging, often taking the time to give a little more and push a little harder. You can even catch them for a coffee in the common-room.
So if you’re looking to be stimulated and willing to be involved, if you looking for great facilities or breath taking views consider Aberystwyth University. But don’t take just my word for it check out NSS (National Student Survey).
