Farm courses to end at Wye

IMPERIAL COLLEGE has announced that it will be closing the department of agricultural sciences based at its Wye campus near Ashford in Kent.
An internal review of the Faculty of Life Sciences, of which Wye is a department, has recommended that certain “activities” of the Wye campus are transferred to other sites in a “managed and timely way”.
Only students following undergraduate courses in applied business management will remain at Wye.
The decision means the loss of up to 30 academic staff posts and a corresponding number of support staff.
The courses that are transferred to new sites will come under a new department of environmental sciences.
The future of the Wye campus is to be considered under a separate review.
The date of this has yet to be announced.
