Drive it Home campaign gains pace
The NFYFC has called for rural roads to be included in the national driving test, in the latest stage of their nationwide road safety campaign.
In January, NFYFC chairman Milly Wastie met with road safety minister Stephen Hammond MP to discuss the federation’s “Drive It Home” road safety campaign and how they can be involved in future government consultations on road safety.
The ministerial meeting was the latest in a string of achievements since the campaign launched in November last year.
To date the campaign has:
- Received backing from former farming minster Jim Paice
- Secured funding for research into why young drivers are involved in collisions in rural areas
- Secured 200 places (subsidised by NFU Mutual) for members to attend a Drive Doctors driving course for only £45
- Put road safety on the agenda of an upcoming #agrichatuk discussion on Twitter
