Farm video spoof makes nine-year-old web sensation

A nine-year-old American boy has become a video blogging star after appearing in a parody video with a special farming twist.

Farmer’s son Fred White, who goes by the name of Lil Fred, has fronted a version of Carly Rae Jepson’s popular pop song Call me Maybe but with farming lyrics.

The video, inspired by the Peterson Farm Brothers’ I’m Farming and I Grow It (7m views), has already had more than 1.2m hits on YouTube.

The video, filmed by Fred’s older bother Justin, shows Lil Fred on his family run dairy farm dancing, feeding cattle and even tasting cattle food.

Fred sings to Call Me Maybe’s music: “Hey I just milked you and this cow is crazy so here’s her udder so milk her maybe”.

The duo wrote the lyrics with the help of their cousins, Sam and Jake, who are also occasionally seen in the background of the video.

Belonging to a family that has been farming for four generations, the brothers also aimed at promoting the farm industry – “These cows are my entire life, I love them so much and you should know that, so farm it maybe?”

Lil Fred and Justin have been uploading videos to the internet since 2008 and have gained plenty of fans since with more than 1,300 “Likes” on their Facebook page.

Farm It Maybe was uploaded on YouTube on 14 July and has gained 1.2m views by 19 September.
