Farmer airlifted after serious tractor collision

A farmer was airlifted to hospital after his tractor collided with a van on an A-road.


The 40-year-old local farmer was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries following the crash on the A714 between Newton Stewart and Wigtown, in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.


Police closed the road at around 1pm on Wednesday (27 June) to clear the accident and carry out a full crash investigation at the scene.


Local diversions were put in place and police asked other drivers to avoid the area. However, the road has now been reopened.


Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the two vehicles prior to the accident to contact them.
