Farmer diversifies into luxury trailer breaks

A farmer is offering holidaymakers a unique type farm accommodation after converting a couple of disused grain trailers into luxury bijou holiday homes.

The diversification, dubbed Trailer Breaks, is the brainchild of beef farmer Neil Bagman.

Mr Bagman spent a staggering ÂŁ35,000 converting each 14t trailer, installing all the mod cons needed for a luxurious overnight stay. As well as a full queen-sized bed, lounge area and flatscreen TVs, each unit is equipped with an eco-friendly composting toilet and full cooking facilities.

One of the two units, aimed at the honeymoon market, also features a sliding glass roof for stargazing and a Jacuzzi bath and will be rented out for a premium price.

“Everyone’s fed-up with carvans now – this is a much more fun and luxurious alternative,” said Mr Bagman, who lives and farms just outside Brakewell in the Peak District.

“We went a tad over the top with all the fancy bits and bobs, but we thought we might be able to tempt in some of those Cheshire footballer types.”

One of the key features Mr Bagman will be highlighting in the business’s marketing material is the trailer’s “end-of-holiday” feature.

“Unpacking at the end of your trip is really easy,” he explained. “Just tip the trailer up, and your belongings are instantly dispatched to ground level.”

Trailer Breaks will be available to rent from today, 1 April.
