George Thompson has been named Farmers Weekly/CLA Gamekeeper of the Year 2008

George, who’s head keeper on the 7000 acre Spaunton Moor in North Yorkshire, fought off stiff competition from keepers around the country to take the prestigious title.
“He has struck a balance between the environmental, agricultural and human demands on the moor through many years of hard work combined with a high level of technical skills,” says Freddie de Lisle, who represented the CLA on the judging panel.
Runner-up in the competition was Martin Edwards from Whitchurch in Hampshire, while Brian Mitchell from Filleigh in Devon took the highly commended spot.
There will be an awards presentation for the three men tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) at the Game Fair 2008. All showgoers are welcome to come along to this event, which will take place in the Game Fair Theatre (stand F1055).
