Gold medallists ‘blooming’ after Chelsea win

Farmers’ wives Delyth Price and Susan Thomas are still on a high after netting a gold medal at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

The pair represented Llandovery Floral Art Society in the Flower Arranging Section of the London event, taking the honour for their interpretation of the class title “Fiesta”.

Their exhibit was an array of colour, combining red and orange roses; red, green and purple anthuruims; orange and black calla lilies; cerise celosia and many more. The foliage came from Delyth’s & Susan’s gardens.

The design took months of preparation and planning with sketches, research on the title and choosing appropriate colours and flowers to interpret the title.

The stand was welded and constructed by Delyth’s husband, Bryan, who makes and designs many of Delyth’s stand and containers for competitions.

Delyth and Susan started flower arranging with the Young Farmers Club many years ago. They are also very keen competitors and take part in the Royal Welsh Show, the Winter Fair, and various other national shows and competitions.

They described competing at Chelsea as “an experience they will never forget”.
