Open Farm Sunday registrations climb to 270

Over 270 farmers have now registered to open their gates as part of Open Farm Sunday which will take place on 7 June.

The initiative is a massive open day which aims to give the public the chance to find out more about where their food comes from and how it is produced.

It is organised by Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) with the support of industry partners.

Spokesman Roly Puzey said things were well on track to match the 400 Open Farm Sunday events that took place in 2008, which drew a total of 150,000 visitors.

“We are also getting a lot of interest from the non-farming media which is fantastic. Open Farm Sunday is becoming a fixed event in people’s minds. A day where they can come and visit a farm.”

You can find out more about Open Farm Sunday, including farms that have registered to take part, on the Open Farm Sunday website.
