Pink Ladies’ tractor run breaks record in 21st year

A record 192 tractors took part in the Pink Ladies’ Tractor Road Run on Sunday.
Women from across the region drove a 20-mile route through south Norfolk and north Suffolk to raise money for breast cancer research.
The event, now in its 21st year, saw tractors – decorated in pink – travel through towns and villages.
They were cheered on by thousands of supporters who braved heavy rain before sunshine returned for the second half of the journey.

Organiser Annie Chapman MBE, who drove a 1950 David Brown Cropmaster – one of the oldest tractors in the convoy – said:
“It was a wonderful day despite the really heavy shower in the first half, but thankfully we had beautiful sunshine for the return journey.
“What an emotional trip for so many of the lady drivers and, I know, many of the public watching. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible – and so spectacular.”
The route was lined with pink bunting, banners and balloons, as local residents and businesses turned out in support.
Spectators watched from gardens, laybys, and village centres as the convoy passed through.
Team effort
Since it began, the Pink Ladies’ Tractor Road Run has raised more than £1.2m for Cancer Research UK’s breast cancer appeal.
The amount raised from this year’s run will be announced in September.
Ms Chapman added: “As with any event of this size, it cannot be achieved without the support of many people.
“I would like to thank everyone involved, all the drivers, all the people who lend tractors, the landowners, the many marshals, collecting ladies, and anyone else who helps to make this event happen.
“It’s a large team effort!”
Donations for this year’s event can still be made on the Cancer Research fundraising website.
