Twitter discussion to tackle farm safety

Farmers and their families will be able to join in an online discussion about farm safety on 12 September.
It’s giving them the chance to share experiences, advice and best practice in this two-hour event on Twitter.
They’ll also be able to put questions to a panel of experts including representatives of NFU Mutual, which is currently running a Farm Safety First initiative recruiting farmers, family members and others to act as safety ambassadors.
The discussion will be organised by Britain’s leading weekly agricultural Twitter discussion group AgriChatUK.
“It’s been over a year since we last held a discussion about this subject, and in that time there have been a horrible string of tragic accidents,” says AgriChatUK co-founder Jez Fredenburgh.
“Safety sometimes seems a theoretical issue but, as so many sad cases show, it really is vital we talk about it to raise awareness.
“The NFU Mutual’s campaign seems like a perfect opportunity to collaborate to spread the message and get people talking about it.
“NFU Mutual experts will be on hand to help answer people’s questions, but it will mainly be an opportunity for everyone to share experiences and thoughts on the issue.”
