Video: FW “knitted jumper” Christmas front cover sneak preview

Christmas jumper season has officially begun at Farmers Weekly, with a “knitted” design bringing a dose of festive cheer to this year’s Christmas double issue front cover, out on 17 December.

Inspired by Farmers Weekly art editor Heather Curtis, the original plan was to use whizzy photo-editing software to create a Christmas jumper lookalike front cover.

But it soon became clear that clever imagery was no substitute for the real thing – step up local crochet genius Carole Baker.

“I’ve always involved myself in creative pastimes, while working full time, as an easy way to escape the stresses of the day, and took up crochet in 2010,” she said.

“Having been made redundant at the end of 2020, I made the decision to brighten up my local postbox with a crocheted hat – a trend now seen right across the UK during these tough times.

“This has led to many exciting and unusual projects – though I can’t say I’ve ever been asked to crochet a magazine cover before.

“I loved the challenge and very much hope my goal of making you all smile has been achieved.”
