Win cash with Farmers Weekly’s Welcome to Wellywood

Looking forward to the summer and the release of this year’s blockbuster movies?
Well you can get into the mood by having your own go at becoming a rural moo-vie maker or actor in Farmers Weekly‘s great new competition.
Welcome to Wellywood gives you the chance to make a spoof of any iconic film scene – all we ask is that you give it a farming twist.
You could be James Bond in a farmyard, Kate Winslet “flying” on the front of a stationary tractor, Dirty Dancing in a barn, or posing with your friends, Reservoir Dogs-style, at an event or show.
We’re not looking for BBC production standard clips (60 seconds shot on a phone or a camera is fine), but we are looking for clips that make us smile and give a well-known film a farmy feel.
We’ve even got a celebrity judge – TV star and president of the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, Matt Baker.
The Farmers Weekly judges will whittle the entries down to a shortlist, which Matt – a popular champion of farmers and a presenter at the 2011 Farmers Weekly Awards – will then watch.
We’ll be taking into account how widely viewed the clip has been when coming to our decision, so make sure you share your clip with all your family and friends once you’ve loaded it into YouTube.
It might be a clip from an action or adventure film. Your favourite romantic comedy. A gangster film. A war epic. A love story. Any scene from any film is eligible just as long as your version has an agricultural feel to it.
The winning video will bag its maker(s) £400, plus £200 of cinema vouchers.
To give you some inspiration, two volunteers from the Farmers Weekly team (it’s fair to say they’re “enthusiastic” rather than talented when it comes to acting) have given a rural slant to one of the most famous scenes from the blockbuster Gladiator. We swapped an epic Roman Colosseum with, erm, the equally epic Ashford livestock market. Our version is called Cultivator!
