Historical battle site goes on the market

A Northumberland farm believed to be the campsite for the Scottish army prior to the bloody battle of Otterburn in 1388 is being sold by George F White.

Ravenscleugh Farm at Elsdon, near Otterburn, is a 267-acre traditional upland farm with a four-bed house and a range of buildings.

However, selling agent Ben Johnson, who has guided the property at £700,000, said it would not necessarily attract just farmers.

“It’s relative seclusion would offer the ideal opportunity to escape the rat race and set up a new venture in beautiful, unspoilt countryside,” he said.

Wildlife, including an otter holt, was plentiful on the farm, he added.
