John Deere 9030 range-toppers revamped

John Deere’s new range-topping 9030 tractors made their first public appearance at Agritechnica.
Essentially a revamp of previous 9020-series machines, the line-up includes four wheeled, articulated models and three track-layers ranging from 388hp to 543hp.
The ‘30’ designation brings new 13.5-litre engines, a track suspension system and a facelift.
Thanks to electronic controls, variable output turbos and exhaust gas recirculation, the new power-plant is claimed to maintain full torque right down to 1000rpm. Importantly for Deere, it conforms with the latest emissions rules while remaining as fuel efficient as its predecessors.
On tracked machines a single air-bag set-up at the front of the track carriage provides the front idlers with 340mm of suspension travel.
The cab is now 2dBA quieter than before and is less cluttered with the handbrake moving from the floor to a switch on the right-hand console alongside the new CommandCenter computer.
