Rare freehold farm on Dartmoor
A RARE FREEHOLD farm on Dartmoor, Devon, is set to go under the hammer with West Country agent Stags on June 30.
Dury Farm at Postbridge, which is transected by the River Dart, includes a four-bedroom farmhouse and a two-bedroom bungalow. The 114-acre stock unit is being guided at £800,000 by Peter Symons of Stags’ Totnes office.
Mr Symons said most of the farms on the moor were owned by the Duke of Cornwall so such opportunities were uncommon. He said lifestyle buyers would be the likely bidders. “It is an extraordinary place.”
On Exmoor, South Molton firm Phillips Smith & Dunn has auctioned 94 acres of hill land at Court Hill near Exford. The firm’s Peter Nancekivell said there was strong bidding from local landowners and the block eventually fetched £267,000 (£2840/acre).
