Two arable holdings offer buyers regional choice
Two similar-sized arable offerings in Scotland and Lincolnshire give buyers the choice of an established farm or good-quality bare land.
Linhead Farm in Berwickshire offers stunning views and is being sold as a whole or in two lots for offers in the region of ÂŁ2.6m.
The 322-acre borders arable farm is nine miles from Dunbar and 36 miles from Edinburgh.
The land is all down to a mix of combinable and root crops with the current farmer growing for neighbouring Drysdales Produce.
The farm is Class 3 arable land and runs from 165-264ft above sea-level.
There are 38 acres of pasture and also steep “sea braes” which run down to the shore.
About eight acres of woodland and wooded dene areas could provide a family shoot.
A range of modern and traditional farm buildings is suitable for both grain storage and cattle housing. There is also a telecom mast leased to Vodafone, bringing in ÂŁ4,460 a year, which expires in 2020.
Linhead Farm includes a six-bedroom Georgian farmhouse but single farm payment entitlements are not included in the sale.
“This is both a tremendous farm and a great opportunity for someone to purchase a farm or to extend their current acreage in one of Britain’s most renowned farming areas,” said selling agent Ewan Harris from Sale & Partners.
“Located midway between Berwick upon Tweed and Edinburgh, this is both a lifestyle and farming property, so we are expecting it to appeal to a range of potential purchasers.”

A block of Grade 2 arable land in the Lincolnshire Wolds is about to be marketed with agents, hoping to achieve ÂŁ9,000 an acre.
With almost 300 acres, the land at Rigsby near Alford is ringfenced and is for sale as a whole or in two lots.
The land is spread across six fields ranging from 28-68 acres in size, with the first lot around 136 acres and the second 160 acres.
The majority of the land has been drilled with either winter wheat or oilseed rape.
Entitlements are included in the sale, which is being conducted by informal tender.
“Being a good-sized block of wolds land this sale should attract a great deal of interest from locals as well as further afield, including investment buyers,” said agent James Boulton of Willsons in Alford.
