Cattle deaths can now be registered online

Farmers can now report deaths of registered cattle using the British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS) online Cattle Tracing System (CTS Online).

Previously, only the deaths of unregistered calves could be reported online. BCMS has now added to the reporting functions available to farmers.

Reporting online ensures the details of cattle deaths are recorded on the central database quickly and reliably. Keepers must still complete the details of the death in the passport and return it to BCMS within seven days of the date of death.

Other minor enhancements have also been made to CTS Online in response to feedback from users: The receipt date of information is now shown in the transaction list; and the total number of events recorded is shown on each submission receipt.

CTS Online is simple to use and provides a secure and reliable way to report cattle information and check the records held by BCMS for individual farms.
