Yatehouse dispersal sees 5500gns top in Cheshire
Established over 30 years ago, Richard Atkin’s Yatehouse Holstein herd saw prices reach 5500gns at its dispersal on farm in Cheshire last week.
Mr Atkin’s well-known herd had developed many good cow families – including the Roxys, Christines, Fawns, Gails and Joys – and it was one from the Roxy dynasty that topped the sale.
Yatehouse Jordan Star Roxy was offered fresh from a late June calving.
She is out of a 9361kg dam by Potters-Field BW Ron and has eight generations of Ex and VG dams behind her.
Roxy stays in Cheshire with Nantwich breeder Ian Williamson’s Wardle herd.
The 239 head averaged 957 and a strong demand for youngstock saw a red yearling heifer close behind at 5000gns.
Yatehouse Talent Belle Red is an ET-bred daughter of Ladino Talent and out of the 10,400kg heifer Yatehouse Rubens Belle.
She also stays in Cheshire and joins the Grant-chester herd of the Suensen-Taylors.
Yatehouse Rubens Belle also produced the maiden heifer Yatehouse September Belle, a Pursuit September Storm daughter, who realised 2600gns to John Lomax & Son of Chorlton, Staffordshire.
The in-calf heifer Whartonspool September Joy, another by September Storm, made 3400gns to Robert Swaine of Shavington, Shropshire.
She was AI’d in March to Morrill J Cheech Red and is out of the heavy milking Prelude cow Gillette Dali Tidings of Joy.
The February-calved heifer Yatehouse Boss Rose, a Bosside Ruben daughter, was sold served to Picston Shottle in April.
She is out of an 11,900kg dam by All Nure M Adam Goodtime and goes to E J Fort, Keighley, at 3200gns.
And Mark and Sue Nutsford were in at 3200gns to add the in-calf heifer Sterndale Storma Luck Fawn to their Riverdane herd.
This Stormatic daughter goes back to the Quietcove Fawn family.
She was due shortly to Gillette Brilea.
Averages: 132 cows 928, 29 in-calf heifers 1162 and 34 maiden heifers 1119.
