Displaced abomasum treatments compared

Differing surgical methods for treating left abomasal displacement in dairy cows show different rates of recovery, according to a recent experiment.

Of 60 cows operated on by each method, five treated by abomasopexy had wound complications and in two of these displacement recurred.

Conversely, only two of the 60 treated by omentopexy had complications and no cases relapsed.
