Handy solution for moving pig arks

Arks – as well as the pigs themselves – can be awkward blighters to move, but Douglas and Angus Grey have come up with a handy solution for getting them from pen to pen.

Their home-made implement is used on Eden Brook Farm, a smallholding on the Scottish borders which breeds Saddleback pigs.

The jib was originally an old bale spike, but a few hours in the workshop means it can now be attached to the farm’s Matbro to lift six- and eight-foot arks. It can also be used to lift the arks over field fences to save trundling into the pens with the telehandler.
