No burial derogation for NI

THE NATIONAL Fallen Stock Company represents the most-cost effective and only legal way of dealing with fallen stock according to the department of agriculture and rural development in Northern Ireland.
Many in the province were hoping they may be lucky enough to be defined as a remote area, but DARD has confirmed that no area in NI or ROI meets that criteria.
In a statement DARD points out that the only areas in the UK which have been specifically designated as remote are the Highlands, the Islands of Scotland, the Scilly isles and Lundy Island.
DARD points out that the derogation secured by Spain, France, Greece, Italy and Portugal provides a food source to certain endangered or protected species of necrophagous birds.
These birds are not indigenous to Northern Ireland.
