Aviagen expands in France
Aviagen is set to expand its breeding operations in France with the acquisition of the grandparent facilities of Grelier France Accouveur (GFA) in the north-west of the country.
Located near Angers, the farms and one hatchery will, once a number of conditions are met, become part of Aviagen France SAS, with all staff retaining their jobs.
Brian Whittle, Aviagen’s president, European Operations, said the acquisition was a chance to develop the company’s Ross PM3 bird – a smaller breed of bird – in France.
“Our mini product, the Ross PM3, has proven track record of success in the market through the good work done by Grelier over many years,” Mr Whittle said.
“They have provided us with an excellent platform from which to further develop the relationships with our French customer base, which should, for the first time, be able to utilise the unrivalled support, technical service and genetics directly from Aviagen.”
