Aviagen releases new poultry handbooks

Genetics specialist Aviagen has extended its popular “Best Practice” guides to include breeder, broiler and hatchery guides.
The booklets, which can be downloaded from Aviagen’s website (external link), are designed to communicate best practice management strategies, in a user-friendly way that can be easily implemented on the farm or in the hatchery.

The new guides offer advice on preventing floor eggs in broiler breeder units, transferring pullets after rearing. A broiler handbook outlines biosecurity guidance.
Existing manuals offer holistic guidance to broiler farmers for Aviagen’s Abor Acres, Ross and Indian river Brands.
Dr Emma Whittemore, global technical transfer manager at Aviagen, said the release of more handbooks were planned.
“Feedback from the field highlights the need for more and more practical ‘on farm’ tools. This series forms part of Aviagen’s ongoing commitment to producing literature that offers user-friendly and accessible advice for our customers.”
