New neck-cutting poster for poultry producers
@ FLPA/John Eveson/Rex-Shutterstock An online poster on effective neck cutting of poultry has been added to the Humane Slaughter Association’s (HSA) series of information and guides to best practice in the handling and slaughter of poultry and livestock.
The poster has been designed to assist stakeholders comply with EU legislation on the Protection of Animals at Time of Killing in monitoring effective neck cutting.

It also helps with the identification of the carotid arteries, which are the most important blood vessels to sever because they carry oxygenated blood to the brain.
