Clive Frampton named Poultry Man of the Year

British Egg Processing Association chairman Clive Frampton has been named the 2011 BOCM PAULS Poultry Man of the Year in recognition of his dedicated service to the poultry sector.

The award was made at this week’s Egg and Poultry Industry Conference at the Forest of Arden Hotel near Birmingham by director of BOCM PAULS Pig, Poultry and Speciality division, Jonathan Farnhill, who described Mr Frampton as a “gentleman and true servant of the poultry industry”.

One of the main criteria for assessing candidates was their work “over an above the call of duty”, Mr Farnhill told over 250 guests attending the conference banquet.

“Clive Frampton’s forward thinking attitude and his outstanding communications skills help pull this sector and the industry together, providing both sustainability and growth for the future,” he said.

“His vision and intelligence are truly valued by his peers in the egg processing sector, the egg industry and the poultry industry as a whole.”

As well as being chairman of BEPA and a past chairman of the International Egg Commission, Mr Frampton also runs his family’s 113-year-old egg processing business, based at Shepton Mallet in Somerset.

Much of his work in the past 12 months has been focussed on encouraging food manufacturers and retailers to seek out British Lion eggs, to ensure they are only using legal products when the EU conventional cage ban takes effect on 1 January 2012.
