Pure breeds enthusiast Andy Brearley is the first winner of the Mike Corrigan memorial cup, awarded for the best photograph of a poultry-related subject at the Cheshire County Show.
Sponsored by Poultry World, the cup was inaugurated in memory of our former pure breeds reporter, Mike Corrgian, who sadly passed away in 2011.
The winning image was one of over 80 photographs presented at the Cheshire Show, where almost 1,500 birds and 650 egg entries were also on display.
The winning picture
Mr Brearly, a site support manager for a large chemical manufacturer in Cheshire, has been breeding pure breeds for 30 years, including large white Frizzles and Norfolk Black turkeys.
The competition was judged by Poultry World editor Philip Clarke and the cup presented by Mike’s widow, Marie. Entry fees from the photography competition were collected and a cheque for £160 sent to The Christie cancer research foundation in Manchester.
