Free practical advice at Poultry Meat Conference

Short, sharp and practical are the watchwords for speakers at this year’s Poultry Meat Conference to be held at Stoneleigh Park on 7 September.

Once again the event is free to all poultry producers, thanks to the sponsorship of Aviagen, BOCM Pauls, Cobb Europe, Intervet Schering-Plough and PD Hook. Delegates are requested to register in advance via the website www.poultryconference.com

“The conference is one of the highlights of the poultry year and has been for many years,” says conference chairman John Cessford. “The event is tailored and designed specifically for industry practitioners, right across the supply chain. Above all, it is for people actively involved in growing broiler chickens and managing broiler breeder parent stock.”

The conference programme is made up of seven highly practical papers, all designed to improve understanding and awareness of the key issues affecting broiler producers and breeders.

For example, Tony Bell of feed manufacturer ABN will talk about broiler nutrition and raw materials, while Keith Warner of The Minster Veterinary Practice will provide a health and welfare review.

Well-known Shropshire producer Alan Simpson will describe “Broiler growing my way”, and Nick French of Aviagen will discuss “Hatchery matters”. There will also be papers on intestinal health, and further technical sessions for broilers and breeders. Poultry health expert Keith Gooderham will provide a conference “round-up”.

“While the issues may change year on year, the continuity is the way the message is delivered,” says Mr Cessford. “Long convoluted, non-specific presentations are not where we want to be.”

The welcome desk opens at 9am, the conference kicks off at 9.50am and it concludes with a free lunch at 2pm.
