George Humphrey rejoins family firm
Poultry specialist George Humphrey is rejoining his family’s business, Humphrey Feeds and Humphrey Pullets, to provide free-range and organic producers in the South with advice and support.
“George will be working with feed and pullet customers in the same way as his predecessor, Anthony Harman,” said sales director Martin Humphrey. “As a poultry farmer with many years’ experience on farm and at the feed mill, he has a tremendous amount of knowledge covering the entire stock management process, which will be of great value to our customers.”
Humphrey Pullets have seven rearing farms that deliver more than one million pullets a year to customers, while Humphrey Feeds specialises in the manufacture and supply of all types of breeder, rearer and layer feeds from its dedicated poultry feed mill – together with the support of its experienced on-farm teams.
Mr Humphrey, who for 12 years managed the company’s laying and rearing farms, is looking forward to putting his experience to good use. “I was responsible for both free-range and barn production systems, as well as working on the feed side, which has given me a unique perspective.
“While there have been many changes in the industry in the past seven years – from a big increase in the breeds available to performance – all the basic principles of feeding, vaccination and bird health remain unchanged. My aim will be to work alongside colleagues and customers to expand our offer and provide quality products, advice and services.”
